The full merged non set runs in any mame version, or only in FinalBurn???

What's the difference between this and the non-merged? They're both non-merged, they have the same amount of games and the hacks, samples etc. are not combined with the original game like they would be in a merged set.

All of the roms work fine except for Metal Slug 3. When I launch it I can hear when I add coins, but the screen is black and can not start the game. I'm using the nightly build of FB Alpha Neo.

I'm one of those who doesn't really need the latest ROM set all the time and this is a huge time-saver. I curate my games and I don't download every single ROM, so the bonus arcade/non-merged set is my go-to. Thanks for updating it regularly, because I haven't gotten around to learning RomVault. Your answer shows once again you don't comprehend how arcade emulation works. I urge you to read up how arcade ROMSETs work. None of these titles are "abbreviated" and all of them work perfectly fine with the intended emulator version. All of them are in the DAT file for this FBNeo version.

THESE GAMES ARE NOT FOR MAME, they are for the latest FBNeo ONLY. It doesn't work like console emulation.
MAME has its own ROMSET for every single version of the emulator....

These roms are abbreviated, which means you can't pick and choose the ones you want because you don't know what these roms are. And there is no list, so there is no way to know which ones are playable.

Case in point. I put 98 files on my RG505 and after scraping and going through all the fetching of data, only 44 were viewable.

So this is a horrible upload where my device can only see half of the first 98 files. The rest are hidden and most of the games have abbreviated names still and if it wasn't for the box art, I wouldn't even know what these games are.

A BETTER way to have done this would have been to create folders and put all the regular roms in one, all the revisions in another, all the different region roms in another, all the home brews in yet another, and so on and so forth. You know, like other people do when uploading rom sets. But no, let's just crowd nearly 8000 roms in one file folder and make the person sort them out 1 by 1.

I applaud the work but give two thumbs down to the laziness in compiling this exhaustive list.

Then please tell me how my RG505 didn't recognize most of the games and couldn't even find artwork for UNTIL I researched the games themselves and typed them in correctly.

That said, most if not all the games say romset is not recognized. None of these work for Final Burn Neo under any player. Not even MAME recognized these titles. Just got a black screen and Retroarch stopped working.

Not a review, but a question. Why is VS Super Mario Bros (and the rest of the VS series) included in the ROMset? FBNeo doesn't detect it and all I've found online is that only MAME can run it. Am I doing something wrong?

One Question: What is the best way to update Final Burn Neo? As of now, I delete the old files, DL the new version and then go through setup all over from the beginning again. There has to be a better way, right?

This set has given me many hours of enjoyment! I only wish that FinalBurn Neo had Venture. I have a question. I download the set all over again every time it is updated. What does updated "to include synch changes" mean? What is the difference between before and after the update? Should I always update?

I downloaded the cheat pack linked above. I’m using FB Neo as part of Batocera. However, when I tried to access the cheats FB Neo doesn’t see any of them. The cheats in the package are .ini files and the build FB Neo in Batocera is looking for cht files. Why the difference?

I would like to know if it is possible to launch games from a command line.

Like a desktop shortcut to automatically open a specific rom and launch it in Fullscreen. Maybe a .bat file, or something.

I play way more games than what FBNeo can store in the "Most recent games" tab, so I pretty much always have to go through menus and search the game I want to play. Not an issue! but it would be nice if I could automate the process a little bit.

If it is possible, how can I do it? Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I just found the solution. For anyone wondering the same, you just have to add the rom name at the end of directory for the shortcut. For example if you shortcut is something like this : "C:\Emulators\FBNeo\fbneo.exe" you just have to add the file name (without the extension) at the end. It should look something like this "C:\Emulators\FBNeo\fbneo.exe ssf2t"

I have the files, and I'm using the UniBIOS. My question refers to me not being able to open the UniBIOS menu. Not the in-game menu, the menu where you can change Region and whatnot.

I use RetroArch on PS3 and XBoX One.

I use [No-Intro] NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA, MS, GEN/MD, GG... roms which I run fine with RetroArch cores.

I would like to use the FBNeo core with the pack (ARCADE) that you propose.

The "Arcade ROM Set (Full Non-Merged)" pack seems to me the best suited in my case.

Do you recommend me to download this one?

Do I need to make any changes described in "For Retroarch and Retropie users" in order to use it or is it only for the "ROM Set" pack that requires this?

Is it still recommended to torrentzip the set even if I download the non merged? Im using the roms in retroarch and im assuming i dont need to torrentzip them if i download non merged because it appears to be retroarch ready but I just want to make sure.

I am using FBNeo in Retroarch.
I update the set once a month, after MAME comes out, wait a few days for the new FBNeo dat to be released, and scan the folder.
The ones I'm missing I look for them in retroroms.info

I had understood that it was updated once, after MAME was released, but now I see a new dat published, and I'm missing two O_o

Why do you upload everything complete?
Isn't it enough to upload only the ones that change?

All the Space Invader games 95% are in Black and White! Using Mame 2003 Plus they are mostly all colour. Can you fix this?
Avoid if you like Space Invaders.

Hi ChadMaster, I followed directions in ClrMamePro (used it with mame MANY times before, never used for FBNeo) to make an Arcade non-merged set. Used the .DAT from 3 days ago on the GitHub. It's STILL coming back with 10 missing sets, and 266 missing roms. I opened a ticket on the GitHub too. Any ideas of things I can try?

Also, is this the set that the RetroPie documentation talks about left and right called "FB Neo v0.2.97.44-WIP"which is to be used with the lr-fbneo emulator? There's NO numbers like this anywhere and NOBODY online, in any group, any forum, seems to know this answer (and FOUR people in the comments here including myself: bukanijam, Yogurt Fan, fechwizard, have ALL asked about this now - it would help a TON of people if this information is known! -- otherwise our picky RetroPie setups aren't going to load these games if they're the wrong version!).

If I should be downloading the "stable" 1.0.0.0 instead, where do I get the 1.0.0.0 .DAT file from? On the GitHub there's no way to see previous versions, and if I verify that with ClrMamePro it'll come back as wrong since that Github .DAT file is for v1.0.0.1.

Hello everyone! first of all I would like to thank you for this magnificent effort of putting all these games collections together. Now to my question.

Even though I'm not new about emulation, I consider myself to have a lot to learn about it, and I've never been able to download a full FB romset, so when I downloaded this one it made me wonder why does it have folders like the NES, SMS, Megadrive, etc, and then you have the ROMS one? what are the rest of folders for?

Hi I know you mentioned that you won't release non-merged ROM sets. But I wish you will reconsider it. Archive.org is the only library online that we can checkout ROMs individually via HTTP GET and would be nice to be able to check out clone ROMs individually and run them. Maybe release one that only gets updated once a year, so it won't be too much hassle to maintain? Great work!

where are the neogeo games? all i see is nes and neogeo pocket folders...

It would be helpful if you included dats that you use. Or the version number it being verified on. It would be even more helpful if you included non merged sets, discoverable by retroarch, saves us the trouble to do it ourselves.

I tried following the instructions and with a rebuilt non-merged set RetroArch (1.8.8) would not find anything at all during a scan.

I had better results just extracting the arcade set and scanning as-as, I got 7,025 ROMs which is still probably missing some but it's better than nothing.

Even though this doesn't have a 'set number', it seems is a newer version of FinalBurn Neo (formally Final Burn Alpha). This has 6,075 arcade games and quite a few consoles as well that FinalBurn Neo supports.
You can run this through ClrMamePro and get your sets that will work with RetroArch and others. I ran it through and got a complete v0.2.97.30 set (this being the 2012 set). It ended up with 3,364 of the 3,369 supported games, I assume the missing five are the five BIOS. I followed the directions given with the download and ended up with a 20.7GB 'non-merged' set.
